Unusual Limoges Porcelain Plate ~ Stouffer Studio Hand Painted with White and Blue Daises ~ Art Nouveau ~ Artist Signed ~ JPL Jean Pouyat 1890-1932

This is quite a charming plate! The artist has chosen a slightly scalloped china mold and has added gold gilding in a scalloped design to the rim. The background consists of a baby blue color for the outer portion of the plate and a brilliant white for the inner portion. They are separated with delicate gold scroll work. He has left a small portion under the gold rim white and has outlined it with a darker blue. He has painted a somewhat art nouveau design of blue and white daisy flowers within the blue band. The flowers are attached to black stems that meet in the center of the plate forming a knotted design that he has filled in with a soft green. He has painted green and blue leaves around the black stems on the white center and has added a gray leaves between the green groups. The Mug is signed on the front by the artist, but the spelling is difficult to decipher. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc. Would add richness where ever it was placed!
