Hand painted, earth tone, woodland flowers are highlighted, in relief, and add wonderful dimension to each plate. Each dainty, and fragile, scalloped edge plate in this SET OF FOUR are 7 3/8". The plates are of a fine, thin, translucent quality associated with The Haviland Limoge Co., from France. The green underglaze mark is H&Co L France which then dates the plates to the late 1800's, I believe. With the delicately scalloped border, the plates appear to be the Ransom blanks handpainted then by the artist. Each plate bears the same artist's signature; initials A.S.O., on the front. The softness of this pattern and the delicate plates are perfect for the "country cottage" look or that softly feminine room you may wish to create. Three plates are in perfect condition--no chips, nicks, or breaks. The Fourth Plate is considerably discounted as there is a very tiny sliver missing on the edge. I have tried to picture it--see the close up photo and look between the two scallops on the delicate decorative rim.
