BEAUTIFUL SET! This Demitasse Set from the 50's comes with it's own holder (stand) for the cup and saucer making them easily displayed. The Colonial Courting Couple has been produced by multiple manufacturer's--with Homer Laughlin being one of the prime examples. This heavily gilded set was manufactured by Homer Laughlin in their Nautilus shape--see the under stamp on the saucer. The saucer was overstamped by Sabin, Crest-O-Gold, and I imagine that the gilding was added by them. The miniature cup and saucer are in MINT condition--the decal on the center saucer and on the inside of the cup is without wear. The inner row of filigree is mirrored within the wide gold band trim--all fully intact. There are no chips, cracks, nicks, or crazing to the cup & saucer. The holder (stand) does have a very little bit of crazing but is otherwise perfect. The crazing on the stand cannot be detected when the cup and saucer set are in it. The stand, I suspect was also an addition by Sabin. It has a hole on the back, giving it the capability to be hung if desired.This elegant and beautiful set is a must for the serious collector of this pattern..
