A striking pair of 19th century miniature bronze busts depicting French surgeon Ambroise Pare (1510–90) and Belgium anatomist Andre Vesale (1514–64.) The busts are mounted on porphyry marble platforms, finely cast with lovely detail, both in excellent condition. They would be a wonderful gift for any physician to decorate a desk or bookcase; size 6 ½” H. Each bust is signed by its sculptor; "Bulio" (Jean Bulio, French, 1827-1911), and "D. Marie" (Désiré Pierre Louis Marie, French, 19th C).
