Vintage Wind-up Celluloid Football Player - O.J.

This old wind up toy is one of a few sports figure toys made of celluloid. The young football player is wearing an old style helmet and a number 23 jersey. His left arm is jointed and moveable but his right arm is molded close to his side carrying the football. His facial features are interesting, especially his eyes which are painted lavender. The celluloid figure is attached to a tin base that holds the wind-up mechanism. When wound he spins in a circle then heads off in a straight line repeating this pattern until he runs down. Molded into the back is; Made in Occupied Japan along with a triangle logo with T.N. inside of it.

It measures about 4 3/4" tall with a 2" diameter base and is in very good working condition with minimal wear. The celluloid is in very nice condition with good color and no damage. The tin base is discolored and looks like it had tape on it.
