Egyptian Style Beaded Cabochon of Polymer and Peyote Beaded Bezel

The story on this design is not a short one. I searched for months for vintage glass cabochons in an Egyptian style to use in my design work. Once I had them, I couldn't part with them and they now reside in my collection. Instead, I created a mold with one and then created a replica in polymer clay. The base of the cabochon is black, but the face, neckline garment, and head dress are hand pigmented with multiple shades of gold and copper. The beaded bezel and the bail are hand beaded with Peyote stitched beads in bronze and rust of sizes 11/0 and 15/0 glass seed beads. The bail will handle a wide range of necklace sizes. Dimensions including the beaded bail are 2 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches. One interesting note on this design is that it is actually more durable and will last far longer than the original piece that the design was molded from! Thanks for visiting! --Mona
