The magnificent workmanship in this tiny piece is a sight to behold. Twenty tiny squares represent life in the mid 19th Century and likely had great meaning to the bride of the day.
We have posted photos of the front and back of the quilt, the newspaper clipping which was inspiration for the quilt, greatly magnified close-ups of the embroidered squares, and a photo of the quilt next to an 8” doll which shows relative scale (doll is not included in this listing).
Measures 5-3/4” long and 4-1/2” wide. 20 squares, entirely hand embroidered. Bride’s Quilt Top with Bird of Paradise, from the Albany NY area, inspired by c1858 – 1863 Baltimore Album Quilt.
Condition: pristine; no damage or stains.
Item ID: TX-Y09
