Mixed media (probably some type of oil pastel stick?) on heavy paper, 22 1/2" by 17", signed in pencil at lower right "WOLF POGZEBA" (1936-1982), showing a small herd of deer or young elk grazing quietly in a snowy forest clearing. The paper is evenly rumpled, for want of a better word; it doesn't lay flat, as if possibly exposed to moisture at one time. However, there are NOT any water stains. THE ARTIST is well known in western American art circles, his work having appeared in the past at such important and prestigious auctions as Drummond (Coeur d'Alene/Reno). He is listed in Samuels, which states that he was born in Germany and was living in Denver in the mid 1970's. His subject matter runs the gamut of western Americana but animals often are prominently featured. Take a look at the askArt site which shows other images of his work, which bear a strong family resemblance to this one. The Museum of New Mexico, the Eiteljorg in Indianapolis, and other museums include the artist's work in their permanent collections. Email me with any questions. The art is framed in simple wood and is behind 1/8" plexiglas for easy and safe shipping via Fedex Ground. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates.
