Fine circa 1860 unframed oil on relined canvas, 28" by 36", titled "Fishermen landing fish on the beach of Scotland", signed "Wm. Shayer". This British marine genre painting offers superb detail by an accomplished hand, as well as a look into a simpler time. It was offered in a Christie's East/New York 19th century European paintings sale several years ago, estimated at $4-6,000. i welcome offers on most of my shop offerings but am firm at $3,750 on this particular painting.
