Unusual late 19th century chest of drawers is made of satinwood beautifully toned on the lower section. The top drawer is of myrtle creating a marbleized effect in the distinctive swirl and slightly more amber in color than the bottom. Banded with a green border which matches the grooving on the mitered corners. Hand painted floral and leaf in the center, green and gold as well as the silhouette of a woman. Additional hand painting on the next drawer, swag and floral with red accents. Mitered edges, ribbed and brass ormolu mounts on the corners. Brass decorative loop hardware and knobs on top drawer, original to the piece which is divided into three equal sections of 10 inches wide each. Lower drawers extremely deep and long which would house many items. Beautiful workmanship and quality. Rope carved trim on bottom edge. Originally stood on brass wheels which are included but removed for shipping, yet easily attachable. Wonderful condition, slight wear to veneer on right side. Measures 50H (without wheels) X 36L X 21D.
