This magnificent, rare quartersawn oak treasure is about 97" tall, and 45" wide.Its base is 14" deep and is 15" off the floor. It has a skirt to which applied carving is attached in the middle, and it is supported by nicely shaped feet. And now the fun begins! It has a central bevelled mirror 59 1/2" tall and 21 1/2" wide. Above this mirror is another mirror, semi-circular in shape 21 1/2" wide and 8" tall. On top of the mirror is a great open mouthed carved northwind face with very nice scroll carving on each side. On each side of the central mirror are five finely shaped shelves 11 1/2" wide and 7" deep, each backed by a shaped bevelled mirror 9 1/2' tall and 7 1/2" wide. Each shelf is connected to the one above/below it by a very finely turned and shaped spindle. The top shelf sports a nicely turned finial instead of the spindle. At the top of the shelves on each side is wonderfully open carved scroll work to transition back to the center. This is a large, spectacular and rare form of American oak furniture. Visually, because of all the mirrors, it takes up very little space. The etagere is in almost perfect(and undusted) original finish, and the mirrors are original, untouched, and in fine condition. It is an extraordinary example of fancy American oak furniture, and lends it self very well to display untold kinds of treasures in front of all those mirrored shelves.
