About Us
A LITTLE ABOUT ME( ARTITUDES)

I am very excited to be apart of Ruby Lane. I have always been obsessed with beautiful jewelry, antiques & glass. About 10 years I decided to put it all together.

I took several glass classes to learn how to make glass beads. This is called "Lampworking" A new obsession. I created beautiful necklaces with my one of a kind beads using Swarovski crystals, 14K gold and 99.9 fine silver findings.

Adding to my designing in the year 2000, I took many classes and became certified in PMC(precious metal clay).
I became certified with Rio Grande and PMC connection.
I learned how to make my own frame work, solder, and design using 14K gold and 99.9 silver. I learned techniques like keum-boo( the technique of adding gold over silver) and plique-a-jour enameling. I use these techniques to design my jewelry.

In order to take my jewelry designing to a higher level and be very unique about my design in jewelry, I decided to use only the best beads, crystals and findings. I made a decision to use only vintage beads. In my hunt for vintage beads, someone scared me and told me that a lot of beads marked vintage, were really new glass beads struck with old molds. I was concerned about the things that I was selling were not truly what I was describing. I went on a search to find only vintage beads from antique malls house sales and flea markets.

One of the jewelry collectors told me to look up the value of these costume necklaces. I was amazed. I starting reading and studying about the designers and how they got started. I also studied their techniques in how and where they designed this jewelry.

I have a new appreciation for vintage and costume jewelry. I like it better than new fine jewelry. I feel that it is history and willl never be created exactly the same. I am constantly learning new techniques on how to design and finish my jewelry. In this obsession I have become a jewelry collector and also a jewelry dealer. I look for vintage jewelry where ever I go, estate auctions, flea markets, antique shows, garage sales, estate sales and thrift stores.

My favorite items to sell are the signed designers, although I am learning how to tell jewelry from designers that didn't sign their jewelry

My future goal is to be able to have my jewelry collection because of it's workmanship and uniqueness.
