Thank You for a successful inaugural year on Ruby Lane - Wishing you and yours the very best in 2009!
Each matching piece of this set...the lidded coffee pot, lidded sugar bowl, and creamer are beautifully handpainted with precision and careful detailing. Upon a pale green porcelain canvas, the rose florals are gentle and graceful, in colors that portray classic styling. The handles are curved with detail and embellished in gold, as are both lids and the spout. It's no wonder that Lefton attracts the attention of discriminating collectors.
A Bit of History. The Lefton Company was established in Chicago in 1940, by George Zoltan, a Hungarian immigrant. He had always admired the quality and workmanship in finer Japanese porcelain, and after the end of World War II, he established business relationships in post-war Occupied Japan to export Japanese porcelain to America. The porcelain was of excellent quality and was affordable to middle-class Americans in post war years. (ref:Collectible Cups and Saucers)
