Thank You for a successful inaugural year on Ruby Lane - Wishing you and yours the very best in 2009!
On white porcelain, a pattern of yellow swirls dances across each piece and gives an 'almost' solid appearance. Atop the yellow, a 1" band details black baskets and swags with colorful fruit and florals. Black trim is present along the rims, cup handle and base.
Presented with pumpkin bread and spiced apple tea, this ensemble warms a Fall afternoon tea.
A Bit of History. In 1897, Crown Staffordshire first appeared and in 1903 it became a limited company under the name Crown Staffordshire Porcelain Co. Ltd. By the turn of the century, this productive company offered a wide range of bone china and in the late 1920's, Crown Staffordshire pioneered the large scale production of china floral ornaments and china costume jewelry for which they became famous. In 1948, the name of the company was changed to Crown Staffordshire China Co. Ltd. In the mid 1960's, the company became part of Wedgwood and the Crown Staffordshire mark ceased being used in 1985.
