Thank You for a successful inaugural year on Ruby Lane - Wishing you and yours the very best in 2009!
The colors are exquisite on a 'canvas' of white bone china. Pale yellow defines the background with an overlay of gold edging that is carefully applied with detail. Elaborate gold scrolling further defines this classic look. Colorful floral sprays are found inside the scrolling and at the bottom of the tea cup. A dainty handle adds interest to an already fabulous artistic design, including scalloped edges.
A Bit of History. The Aynsley Company was started by John Aynsley in 1775, in Longton, Staffordshire, England. The company produced porcelain bone china and was well known for its lovely tea ware. Some lovely cups with butterfly and flower handles were produced in the 1930's.(ref: Collectible Cups and Saucers)
