How great this unblemished piece of Fostoria will look on your Holiday table this year! Rosby Green is the wonderful and bright color of this 9 3/4 inch plate. It sits 1 1/2 inches tall.

The edges are quite unusual and very elegant in appearance. This plate or shallow bowl would look absolutely Yummy with some homemade goodies sitting in it!

This beautiful dish is in excellent condition. It is etched "Fostoria" on the bottom.

Here is a time honored and delicious recipe to try.

Christmas Cherry Cookies

3/4 cup butter, softened

1 3/4 cups granulated sugar

2 large eggs, slightly beaten

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

48 Candied Cherry halves

1. Place the butter and sugar into a mixing bowl. Cream until fluffy. Add in the eggs one at a time until each is incorporated. Add in the vanilla extract. Mix. Add in all the other ingredients except the Candied Cherries.

2. Place rounded teaspoonfuls of the cookie batter on a greased cookie sheet. Press a cherry half into the center of the dough with the round part of the cherry facing up.

3. Bake at 375*F (190*C) for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and allow to cool completely

Makes 48 cookies.

These are WONDERFUL to eat and look at! I forget where I received this recipe from, but they definitely hit upon a Sweet Success with this one!

Very pretty Fostoria plate and in great Gift Giving condition!

A little online History Lesson,

Fostoria's original glass factory borrowed its name from the town in which it was built, Fostoria, Ohio, in 1887.

Fostoria began producing glass in 1887 in Fostoria, Ohio. The factory packed up and moved to Moundsville, West Virginia in 1891 where glassware of the highest quality was manufactured through 1983 when Lancaster Colony bought the company. Three years later, the Fostoria factory closed for good.

Fostoria is categorized by collectors as “elegant” glassware, although many pieces were produced during the Depression era. This term came about due to the high quality of this type of glass when compared with other depression era dinnerware.
