WHAT a great FIND! Great for your genealogy too! What was Virginia like back then? Where your relatives living. What was their drive through that Virginian countryside in 1612? I love searching my genealogy as well. {In my spare time, lol!}

This is a map that was printed straight from the original 1612 map of Virginia made by John Smith. The original is stored at Princeton University.

This is a beautiful, colorful map of 1612 Virginia. This would great in a library or family room to pull in a bit of history in the room.

The map itself measures 11 inches by 14 inches. So does the frame. This map does not have a mat. I noticed that the camera flash is making this appear white for the back ground; it is not white, it is a white that has aged to a cream color.

This vintage framed map was purchased at an out of state auction in the state of Michigan. It had been brought to Michigan by a relative from North Carolina that had it framed originally. The frame has seen its better days, but you would not be buying this for the frame. The colors are gorgeous. There appears to be a slight water stain ON THE BACK of the frame. I DO NOT SEE any water damage on the map itself. During all the miles this map has seen, the tape on the back is starting to separate. I have not removed the backing. I will leave that for the new owner. You may find another treasure beneath this old framing! Please let me know what you find. I am always interested in what is behind the frame!
